Meet The Team
Katie Matzke, DVM
Founder, Veterinarian
Dr. Katie Matzke was born and raised in Jupiter, Florida. She attended the University of Florida for both undergraduate and veterinary school, graduating from the UF College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.
Dr. Katie moved across the country and found her niche as a shelter veterinarian with Nevada Humane Society from 2013 to 2023. She loves to give comfort and provide high-quality care to homeless animals. Dr. Katie founded Rover Veterinary Care in Reno, NV in 2020 after seeing firsthand the need in the community for in-home euthanasia services. In 2023, she moved her family back to her hometown of Jupiter and expanded Rover Veterinary Care to South Florida.
Dr. Katie stays active in the shelter community, providing spay & neuter services for multiple South Florida shelters. Her hobbies include reading, running, and spending time with her family.
Samantha Sligar
Client Services Representative
Samantha was born and raised in Washoe Valley, Nevada, where her lifelong passion for animals began through 4-H and dog shows. She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Truckee Meadows Community College in 2010.
Samantha brings a wealth of knowledge to her work, with experience in private practice, shelter medicine, and a veterinary dental specialty practice. Since becoming a military spouse in 2019, she has continued to grow her skills as a veterinary technician while practicing in both Tennessee and Missouri. No matter where life takes her family, Nevada will always be home.
Outside of work, Samantha remains actively involved with local animal shelters, helping pets find their forever families. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her dogs and exploring new destinations with her family.
Sara Torres
Client Services Representative
Sara is a veterinary nurse with experience in surgical assistance, preventive care, and high-volume spay and neuter services. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree with plans to attend veterinary school and is passionate about compassionate, accessible animal care.
Outside of work, Sara enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and caring for her dogs.
Joshua Matzke
Growth and Operations
Josh is an experienced operations leader with a passion for developing business processes and creating seamless team environments. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Business Management and has spent the last few years in the hospitality industry.
In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and children or going on adventures in places without cell service.
Josh is excited to be part of the Rover Veterinary Team.
